I have been trying to get this video thing to work and get the 2012 video on for On Horses For Horses made and posted - I do believe a video 'speaks' to more people than the written word and last years video was sent all over the globe. Last years video was made by a former friend with a production company (nightowl) but this years one is up to me and I use windows movie maker which will be naturally far less professional. Unfortunately my new camera's format is not recognized by movie maker and I have been faffing rather a lot to sort this problem but have not been too succesful .... I think I at last sorted it by downloading the right converter program which allows me to convert the whole video rather than just about 30 seconds of it.... And it is completely legal may I add :-)
As I think (and sure hope) this week may be the last of my 6 day working weeks so it should be easier to find time and get it all organised ... at last. The good thing about the overtime is that I have managed to save up a bit and got a new saddle for my boy and I - it's a Fhoenix soft tree saddle and I received it on Tuesday, tested for the first time yestreday.. and think we will love it. It was all a bit different from what I am used to so I did a lot of faffing (even more so than usual) with my boy showing an awful lot of patience.
We have come so far together. When we first teamed up 2,5 years ago I was forever dodging teeth and swishing tails and cried buckets of tears because I felt scared and rejected by this angry horse. Everything was a struggle and now he is just so sweet, patient and lets me cuddle and faf with him to me hearts content. I have learned so much from him. I remember someone saying it would be such a big reward if I managed to win him over, far more rewarding than a push button pony. At that point I would have happily settled for a push button pony but it is true though... It is such a rewarding relationship we have now and the compliments I receive about how well and happy he looks and how patient and strong I must have been to hang in there and sort things my way. I insisted in a violent free approach as I did want to win him over and not break him or force him. I now take him in from the field withouth a head collar and he follows me where I want him to go - although, I have to be honest, if we pass a haynet or lick bucket I do need to add a bt if pressure :-)
It was doing all the reading and browsing on horse behaviour, instincts and training methods, as well as starting my equine studies that made me want to do more for other horses too... hence On Horses for Horses - :-)
